Thing-a-day 27: TransPop
Friday, February 27th, 2009This combines the transient detector from Day 15 with the Sine Crackle Pop synth from Day 18.

Thing-a-day 26: Thingy
Thursday, February 26th, 2009This does something. And what does it do? To be honest, the name of this synth technique escapes me at the moment. More or less, the engine creates an oscillator by cycling through a windowed segment of a buffer, with the window having the ability to move positions within this buffer.
The audio source used in the example is the same music box recording that was used in Day 4.

Thing-a-day 25: GrainVoc
Wednesday, February 25th, 2009This is a vocoder that uses grains instead of fixed channels. Sounds terrible at the moment, but that can be fixed later. I’m just happy it works.

Thing-a-day 24: Multi FX
Tuesday, February 24th, 2009Built a general purpose Multi FX processor. This thing is capable of delays, flange, chorus, crude reverberation and some crazy sound warping. The design itself is fairly vanilla.

Thing-a-day 22: WonkyFX
Sunday, February 22nd, 2009Experimenting with FX. The audio example processes an excerpt from the music from Day 9.

Thing-a-day Day 21: Quadrature
Saturday, February 21st, 2009A built a quadrature in Max today. It outputs four sine waves of the same frequency, but different phases: 0°, 90°, 180° and 270°.

Thing-a-day 20: Binary Music Box
Friday, February 20th, 2009This is a much more musical version of the Binary Clicker I made a few days ago.

Thing-a-day 19: Additive Tone Cluster
Thursday, February 19th, 2009This machine generates tones from randomly spawned sine oscillators of varying frequencies.

Thing-a-day 18: Sine Crackle Pop
Wednesday, February 18th, 2009This randomly generates single cycle sine waves, creating a very snappy and crackly texture.

Thing-a-day 17: Binary Clicker
Tuesday, February 17th, 2009Today’s device translates the wonderful world of binary into sound. Inspired by THINGS – COUNTING IN BINARY ON YOUR FINGERS by Bre.

Thing-a-day 16: Transient II
Monday, February 16th, 2009I built a second transient detector mechanism that is a bit more dynamic than yesterday’s patch.
Here’s a quick run down of the audio example:
Four bars of a drum loop unaltered.
Four bars of the drum loop with accentuated transients.
And then four bars of just the transients.
